Obituary: Albert R. Catanio, 91, WWII Veteran

Albert R. Catanio, 91, passed away at home June 6, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. He met his beloved wife of 69 years, Dina E. (Filippi) Catanio, in France while serving in the Air Force during WWII. Born in Warwick, he was the son of the late Louis and Lena (Yannon) Catanio.

Mr. Catanio had been the owner of the former Greenwich Masonry. Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Gilda Bostick and her husband Robert of Willoughby, Ohio, and Linda Alix and her husband Michael of North Kingstown; grandchildren, Robert Bostick, Jr., Melissa Bladic, Tracy Gelsomino and Courtney Alix; and great grandchildren, Jason and Megan Bostick and Gabriella and Giuliana Bladic. He was the brother of the late Julia and Ernest Catanio and Theodora Standeven.

His funeral will be Wednesday, June 11, at 9 a.m. from the Hill Funeral Home, 822 Main St., East Greenwich. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 65 Third St. Burial with military honors will be in St. Patrick Cemetery, East Greenwich. Calling hours are Tuesday, June 10, 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the OLM Outreach Program.
