10:14 a.m. – The manager of the EG Yacht Club told police a member had been verbally abusive at the club and once on Block Island. The manager wanted to document the EG incident; police told him they had no jurisdiction over incidents on Block Island.

12:28 p.m. – Police arrested two juveniles, age 10 and 15, on Long Street for breaking into cars. No other details were available.

6:15 p.m. – Police cited a West Greenwich man, 27, and a West Warwick man, 24, for possessing less than an ounce of marijuana after the West Greenwich man was pulled over on First Avenue because both he and the other man were not wearing a seat belt. Police detected a strong smell of marijuana when they spoke with the West Greenwich man. He said he’d been smoking before and handed over a small bag of what later tested positive for the drug. The passenger handed over a burnt cigarette that also tested positive for marijuana. They were both cited and released.

10:05 p.m. – Police stopped a road-striping job on South Pierce Road because the trucks did not have any cones or signs signaling that work was being done, after two police cars drove over newly painted yellow lines on the street and got paint on fenders and tires.

Tuesday, Aug. 19

4:23 p.m. – Police arrested a Providence man, 30, on a warrant for failing to register as a sex offender with Providence police. He was processed at the station and driven to the Providence Police Department.

6:34 p.m. – Police cited a New Bedford man, 35, and a North Dartmouth man, 28, for possessing marijuana after being alerted by a motorist that two men “in a black Nissan were smoking marijuana.” Police stopped the vehicle, which bore an expired registration decal. Police smelled a strong odor of marijuana from the car when they approached. The driver, of New Bedford, said he was heading to visit a friend in North Kingstown. The man admitted to having just smoked some pot and told police he had some marijuana with him in a backpack in the back seat. Police found a baggie with what later tested positive for marijuana and an “ear wax” container of concentrated marijuana. The North Dartmouth man was carrying marijuana in a baggie in his pocket. They both were given citations and released.

8:09 a.m. – Police arrested an East Greenwich man, 25, for domestic disorderly conduct and domestic simple assault after he turned himself in for an incident that took place Tuesday at the Greenwich Hotel. According to the report, the man became angry with his girlfriend, who is pregnant with their child, for smiling at a waiter and grabbed her by the neck. She said it lasted a minute and that she had a hard time breathing. During the incident, a TV was knocked over. A third party saw the couple in a stairwell, heard about what had happened and called police. The man was processed at the station and taken to 3rd District Court.
