The road will close completely Friday at 7pm to Saturday at 10am

Work on a water main under Frenchtown Road will cause road closures this Friday and Saturday, EGPD announced Wednesday. Frenchtown Road will be down to one lane Friday between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m., between South County Trail (Rt. 2) and Adirondack Drive. Police will allow alternating traffic through the area, allowing access to all neighborhoods and Frenchtown Elementary.

At 7 p.m., the road will close completely until Saturday at 10 a.m. Drivers will be directed to detour routes using either Middle Road or South Road. The road will reopen as soon as work is completed. During the time the road is closed, that section of Frenchtown Road will only be accessible to residents living in the houses along that stretch. The actual water main work will take place between 874 and 875 Frenchtown Road. Those living between 874 Frenchtown and South County Trail will be able to access their house from the South Council Trail side. Residents of 875 Frenchtown and higher numbers will be able to access their homes from the west side of Frenchtown Road.

On Saturday morning, the road should be open to motor vehicle traffic. There will be closures for paving, but the road is expected to be fully open by 10 a.m. Here’s a map of the area, with detours marked: Frenchtown Road Closure, Detours. Any questions may be directed to Lt. Clement at the East Greenwich Police Dept. (401-884-2244).
