Main St. to Close to Cars for ‘Taste of EG’ Stroll Thursday

by | Aug 20, 2018

Main Street between Queen and King streets will turn into a pedestrian zone on Thursday for the annual “Taste of EG” stroll – a first for the town. Drivers beware!

The East Greenwich Chamber of Commerce-sponsored event features a number of restaurants on Main Street offering free samples of their fare. The difference this year is the vendors – from Main Street and beyond – will set up on Main Street, starting at 4:30 p.m. Thursday. This should ease the congestion that builds up on the narrow sidewalks as visitors line up for tastes from local restaurants.

Car traffic on Main Street, meanwhile, will be diverted between Main and Division streets from 4:30 to 8:30, except for those who live in the area. So, be warned, drivers. If you are planning to come into town Thursday late afternoon or early evening, you might have a detour in your future. Or just ditch the car and come enjoy the fun and tasty treats on Main Street this Thursday.
