by | Jul 23, 2017

May 2, 2017 – The Town Manager’s proposed budget is out. The overall budget is down 0.37% over the current year, so under this budget there would be no property tax increase in FY 2018.

Among the highlights:
The EG Fire Department sees an increase of 4.45%;
EGPD sees an increase of 1.15%;
Public Works gets an increase of 3.26%;
the Recreation Dept. budget is increased 3.15%;
the Planning Department is up 2.26%,
Senior and Human Services sees an increase of 2.96%,
The School District is level funded.

This is the START of the town budget process – the Town Council will hold budget sessions with heads of the different departments. All are open to the public. The public hearing may be on Monday, May 15 (confirmation pending). By Town Charter, the Town Council “shall adopt a budget” by June 10.

EG News will be doing more reporting on the budget process. Stay tuned!
