‘Let’s Get Cooking!’ @ EG Free Library: The Friends of the East Greenwich Free Library will host a special event “Let’s Get Cooking! Tastes and Tales of RI Bake-off Champions.” Join us for an afternoon full of tasty recipes and stories from Rhode Island women who enter cooking contests and win! Mary Jo Fletcher LaRocco of North Kingstown and Valerie Szlatenyi of Wakefield will share their adventures as competitive cooking winners. 1 p.m.

‘Shrek, Jr.’ @ EGHS: Rhode Island Youth Theatre presents “Shrek, Jr.,” at East Greenwich High School, 300 Avenger Drive, Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 4 p.m. $10 at the door.

An Evening w/the Fat City Band: Mardi Gras is still being celebrated at the Greenwich Odeum Saturday night, when The Fat City Band rolls in to make music and have fun. Tickets to the show are $18; a pre-concert party at Dante’s Kitchen and the show $49.50. Get more information on the website here.

EG Animal Protection League open house: Every Sunday, the EGAPL opens its doors so people can meet the dogs and cats in need of permanent homes. You can find videos of some of the animals available for adoption here. EG Animal Hospital, 4302 Post Road, Cowesett. 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
