Photo of 93-Year-Old Hilda Thompson Wins Her a Spot in ‘Globe’

by | Dec 25, 2014

Hilda Thompson, 93, loves reading the weekly tabloid magazine Globe. She loves it so much, in fact, her daughter Nanci decided to submit a photo of her reading the magazine in hopes it would be used in the publication’s weekly Gotta Getta Globe feature. For the feature, the Globe invites readers to submit a picture of them reading the publication and adding why they enjoy it.
Nanci send the photo with this caption:
This photo is of my 93-year-old mother Hilda sitting in her favorite antique Hunzinger rocker reading her favorite publication. She can’t wait to get to the local grocery store on the first day that the new week’s Globe is on the shelves. She attributes her good memory and sharp mind to working on the big crossword puzzle every week (and of course keeping up with news in Hollywood!). Winning the $50 prize is second to how wonderful it would make her feel to see her photo in the Globe.
That was back in August. Last week, Hilda made it into the Globe – see the picture below.
“It’s just really fun that it’s on the newsstands all over the country,” said Nanci. “Mom’s a celebrity!”
