More than 400 people turned out for the 8th annual East Greenwich Turkey Trot Saturday, smiles on their faces despite the chilly temperature. For the second year in a row, Bronson Venable (2007 R.I. cross country state champion) of Warwick took first place, with a time of 15:20, a full 17 seconds ahead of second-place finisher Ben Fazio (a track standout from the EGHS Class of 2013). The top female finisher was Sophia Maynard, 19, of East Greenwich, who finished in 20:10.

Proceeds from the event, put on by the Main Street Association of East Greenwich, will go to the EGHS Avenger Booster Club this year. Over the eight-year span, the run has raised more than $50,000 for local nonprofits.
