Town Councilman Brad Bishop, 56, was arrested Sunday night on a charge of domestic simple assault and disorderly conduct, town officials confirmed.

Bishop said he would not comment after a Town Council meeting Monday night.

No police report was available Monday, but according to the EGPD log, police were called to Bishop’s Adirondack Drive house at 10:03 p.m. Sunday and Bishop was arrested after a dispute with his wife. He was arraigned Sunday night, a no contact order was issued, and Bishop was released.

Council President Michael Isaacs said he learned about the arrest earlier Monday, but would not elaborate.

“All I know is that the incident occurred,” said Isaacs.
