Today In EG: School Committee, ‘Marathon’ Book Signing

There were horse-and-buggy rides at the EG Farmers Market Monday – the final outdoor market of the season.

Tuesday, Oct. 7

Historic Cemetery Commission meeting: The panel meets in Conference Room B at Town Hall. Find the agenda here. 6 p.m.

School Committee meeting: On the agenda, an update on the Chromebook rollout at EGHS and approval of a school-sanctioned trip to the Galapagos Islands. In the library at Cole Middle School. 7 p.m.

‘The Marathon’ book signing: EG author Kerry Sheeran will be at the EG Public Library to sign her book, “The Marathon,” a harrowing but uplifting story about the birth of her third child, Emma. She will discussion faith, medical miracles and the power of the human spirit. 7 p.m.

EG Art Club meeting: The guest artist is Simone Spruce-Torres, a contemporary artist who creates multi-cultural portraits and figures with acrylic paint and graphite pencil. She is also the program director of the Warwick Museum of Art and teaches at RISD. All are welcome. Wednesday, Oct. 8

Lunch on the Hill: Turns out there IS such thing as a free lunch, twice a month in the dining room at St. Luke’s. Lunch is served for all in need, from 11:15 to 12:15.

Board of Canvassers meeting: The panel will confirm the Nov. 4 voter list. They meet in Conference Room B at Town Hall at 4 p.m.

Robin Kall’s ‘An Evening with Authors’: Robin Kall brings together three nationally known authors for an evening right here in East Greenwich. The authors – Susan Jane Gilman, John Searles, and Dani Shapiro – will talk about their work with Kall at Poliquin Group, 1598 South County Trail. The VIR (Very Important Reader) Reception is from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. ($75, including admission). The main event begins at 7, with registration at 6:30 p.m. All net proceeds from “An Evening With Authors” will benefit Love, Carol Foundation which supports breast cancer awareness and education. This year’s recipient will be The American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk.**(including book sales). To order tickets, click here.

Historic District Commission meeting: On the agenda, reconsideration of the windows at 55 Greene St. They meet in Council Chambers at Town Hall. 6 p.m.
