Today In EG: Meetings Galore – Cove Commish, School Board, Town Council

Tuesday, May 6

Cove Management Commission meeting: You’ll find the panel’s agenda here. At Town Hall. 4:30 p.m.

School Committee meeting: The panel will discuss the Senior Project revamp and approval of the 2014-15 calendar. The agenda is here. In the library at Cole Middle School. 7 p.m.

Town Council meeting: The panel continues to review the 2015 budget. At Swift Community Center. 7 p.m.

EG Democratic Town Committee meeting: New members are welcome at the EGDTC’s monthly  meeting. The Coldwell Banker office in the CVS plaza on Main Street. Mayor McKee of Cumberland, candidate for state lieutenant governor, is coming as well as Narragansett Town Council President James Callaghan, who plans to run for the Senate Dist. 35 seat. 7 p.m.

Wednesday, May 7

Planning Board meeting: The panel will discuss future development at New England Tech and the proposed wind ordinance. The full agenda is here. At Town Hall. 7 p.m.

Thursday, May 8

Moms & Military Main Street Stroll: The Main Stroll season is here! There will be music, street vendors and specials from 5 to 8 p.m. up and down Main Street.

Poet Franny Choi Reads at Symposium: The talented, engaging poet Franny Choi of Providence will read from her new book, “Floating, Brilliant, Gone,” at Symposium Books’ EG store. Choi was one of two poets who recently performed and worked with students at EGHS a couple weeks ago. 1000 Division St., 7:30 to 9:30 p.m.

Friday, May 9

Goddard Park Farmers Market: The farmers market at Goddard Park is open for the season (through Halloween). Here’s more information about the market and vendors. Fridays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Civic Leadership Awards: East Greenwich High School seniors Gauri Ganesh and Shiv Patel will receive 2014 Civic Leadership Awards at the State House Friday afternoon. The annual awards are given annually to members of the senior class who make outstanding contributions to their school and their community by Secretary of State Ralph Mollis. The North Plaza of the State House in Providence at 5:30 p.m. Congrats Gauri and Shiv!

Teen Center: The gymnasium at Eldredge Elementary is open most every Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. for teenagers looking to shoot some hoops or some bull. All are welcome. To learn more, check out the F.A.C.E.S. website here.
