Tuesday, July 1

US vs. Belgium: Kick off is at 4 p.m. (thanks to those who corrected me!).  Here’s some more info about today’s match.

Wednesday, July 2

Year midpoint: It turns out there are 182 days behind us and 182 days before us in 2014, making July 2 the year’s midpoint. Kinda cool. It’s also the day in 1777 when Vermont became the first U.S. territory to abolish slavery. And Amelia Earhart and navigator Fred Noonan were last heard from on this day in 1937 over the Pacific Ocean while attempting to make the first equatorial round-the-world flight.

EG Track Club Youth Track Series: A major focus of the EGTC is to hold a summer youth track series which will provide track and field events for boys and girls ages 4-14. In choosing track and field we selected an activity that requires little personal cost (just need a pair of sneakers); almost anyone can physically do (requires minimal skill set), doesn’t require a set number of participants like many team sports so everyone gets to participate fully whether 1 or 100 children show up. We invite boys and girls from East Greenwich and surrounding communities to participate in this summer program.Click here for more information.

Thursday, July 3

Symposium Singles Night: The folks at Symposium Books have taken a survey and it seems that a lot of you are into the idea of having a Singles Night at Symposium Bookstore. So, starting this Thursday evening come to EG’s Symposium Books from 5 to 8 p.m. to meet like-minded people. There will be some wine and nibbles and feel free to BYOB/W too.

Fireworks at Oakland Beach: Details here.

Friday, July 4

Happy July 4th! Bristol Parade? Fireworks? Find out here.

Goddard Park Farmers Market: The farmers market at Goddard Park is open for the season (through Halloween). Here’s more information about the market and vendors. Fridays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
