Friday, May 16

Brown Bag Outdoor Concert: The free outdoor concerts in front of Town Hall are back for a second year, with Branded, a country music group voted the 2014 CMA of R.I. Band of the Year. Tables and chairs will be set up on the lawn so grab a sandwich from a local restaurant or deli and bring along a bag lunch. Noon to 1:30 p.m. Future dates are June 13 (Innovations), July 11 (Johnny Edwards Power of Soul), Sept. 12 (In Tandem), and Oct. 10 (Caraher Brothers). There will be NO concert in August. The concerts are sponsored by the EG Parks & Recreation Department. If rain is in the forecast, you can check if the concert is on by calling 886-8626, ext. 1.

Goddard Park Farmers Market: The farmers market at Goddard Park is open for the season (through Halloween). Here’s more information about the market and vendors. Fridays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Prom night! May it be fun and safe.

Teen Center: The gymnasium at Eldredge Elementary is open most every Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. for teenagers looking to shoot some hoops or some bull. All are welcome. To learn more, check out the F.A.C.E.S. website here.

EG Free Library Book Sale: Dreaming of a good book? There will be loads of them to choose from at the library’s annual book sale today. Hardback books go for $1, paperbacks go for 50 cents. Such a deal! 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

East Greenwich Boy Scout Troop 1 Tag Sale: People who have clothing, books, collectible or other household items are asked to drop them off between 6:30 and 7:30 a.m. (Baked goods for a Bake Sale are also welcome!) The Boy Scouts will tag and sell the items. Anything not sold will be donated to charity. Money raised from the Tag Sale will benefit Troop 1 Boy Scouts. Rain or shine at the American Legion Hall, 1016 Main Street. From 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. For further info contact: [email protected].

Sharing Locker: Sharing Locker: A monthly non-food pantry to help people meet basic needs not provided through food stamps/SNAP. Items include cleaners, detergent, personal hygiene products and dry pet food. At the Westminster Church House, 119 Kenyon Ave., every third Saturday of the month. 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

POSTPONED! Tree Planting @ EGPD: The new EG Tree Committee and the Cindy-Wood Garden Club will plant two trees in front of the EG police department in belated honor of Arbor Day, the first step in planting trees around East Greenwich. All are welcome. 4 p.m.

R.I. National Guard Air Show: It’s back – after a one-year (sequester-forced) break – the air show returns to Quonset in North Kingstown, Saturday and Sunday. From 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

EG Animal Protection League open house: Every Sunday, the EGAPL opens its doors so people can meet the dogs and cats in need of permanent homes. You can find videos of some of the animals available for adoption here. At a NEW LOCATION: EG Animal Hospital, 4302 Post Road. 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Register for Safety Town Day Camp: Camp dates are June 23 to 26. This is an EG tradition of teaching children about to enter kindergarten all aspects of childhood safety including: police, fire, school bus, bicycles, animals and more.
