Tuesday, May 20

Land Trust meeting: The panel meets in the conference room across from Council Chambers at Town Hall. You’ll find the agenda here. 6:30 p.m.

School Committee meeting: The panel will discussed a proposed two-tier bus schedule (currently, the buses run on a three-tier schedule). The library at Cole Middle School. 7 p.m.

Wednesday, May 21

Municipal Court: Court is held in Council Chambers. 9 a.m.

EGHS PTG meeting: There will be a brief, informational presentation on Barrington’s after-prom event. The objective is to begin an informed discussion as to whether this is a feasible concept in EG for the 2015 Prom. Also on the agenda, Mrs. Gilden will give a brief overview of the changes made to Senior Project for 2014-15. In the Guidance office. 9:30 a.m.

Planning Board meeting: After much discussion over several meetings, the Planning Board will vote on recommending a wind ordinance to the Town Council. Before the vote, Town Planner Lisa Bourbonnais will show photographs of different types and sizes of wind turbines for review. In Council Chambers. 7 p.m.

Friday, May 23

Goddard Park Farmers Market: The farmers market at Goddard Park is open for the season (through Halloween). Here’s more information about the market and vendors. Fridays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Teen Center: The gymnasium at Eldredge Elementary is open most every Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. for teenagers looking to shoot some hoops or some bull. All are welcome. To learn more, check out the F.A.C.E.S. website here.

EGAPL Steak Fry: Come out for the East Greenwich Animal Protection League’s Summer Kick-Off Steak Fry – food, cash bar and music by Ray Renzi. $21 per person – you can buy tickets here (type “Steak Fry” in the “purpose” box). At the William Shields American Legion, 650 West Shore Road, Warwick. 6:30 p.m.

Saturday, May 24

Croquet at Goddard – for Mental Health! When the going gets tough, the tough play croquet. The National Institute for Croquet Education (NICE) is hosting an afternoon of croquet with the underlying message that croquet – and other such pursuits – can cure, or at least help, what mentally ails you. The event includes croquet, lunch, and a NICE t-shirt. $10 donation will go toward a mental health agency/charity to be decided by participants. Noon to 3 p.m.

Sunday, May 25

EG Animal Protection League open house: Every Sunday, the EGAPL opens its doors so people can meet the dogs and cats in need of permanent homes. You can find videos of some of the animals available for adoption here. At a NEW LOCATION: EG Animal Hospital, 4302 Post Road. 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Register for Safety Town Day Camp: Camp dates are June 23 to 26. This is an EG tradition of teaching children about to enter kindergarten all aspects of childhood safety including: police, fire, school bus, bicycles, animals and more.
