Veterans Day Observed – Town offices are closed. But there is NO delay in trash delivery – your regular trash day is your trash day this week.
Tuesday, Nov. 14
Town Council meeting: This is a special session scheduled to respond to the ruling by Superior Court Judge Susan McGuirl last week nullifying the council’s appointment in June of Gayle Corrigan as town manager. The agenda states the council will first, appoint Corrigan town manager; second, ratify her contract; and third, ratify all her actions as town manager since her now-nullified appointment June 19. People who are opposed to the reappointment and those who support it have been encouraging residents to attend the meeting, which is slated for 7 p.m. at Swift Community Center.

Lunch on the Hill – If you are looking for some good food and company, stop by the dining room at St. Luke’s Church on Peirce Street where you will find both. Business After Hours – This month’s EG Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours takes place at New England Tech, which just opened its first dorm in September. From 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Members $5; non-members $10.
A Noteworthy Evening – Come and listen to some talented musicians both young and old(er). Come and meet new friends. Finally, come and help offer your insight into how we can create a greater sense of “town” for East Greenwich. It won’t cost you a dime, but your contribution of enthusiasm, caring, and reflection is priceless. Historic Cemetery Cleanup – The Historic Cemetery Commission will be holding a cemetery cleanup at Cemetery #72, the Wickes Family Lot, located on the north side of Division Road in the vicinity of 875 Division Rd. This cemetery has high visibility, has already been cleaned on four occasions and has had several headstones reset but needs proper maintenance nonetheless. Attending this event is a great opportunity to learn about the Town’s history and possibly get those community service hours completed! From 9 a.m. to noon! Guns & Beer VIII – The Varnum Continentals popular annual beer-tasting fundraiser at the Varnum Armory features local breweries, museum tours, raffles, food and historical exhibits. Volunteers In Mission Auction – The United Methodist Church of East Greenwich is holding an auction in support of the youth and their annual Mission Trip to John’s Island, South Carolina as they rebuild, repair and re-shingle homes for those in need. All are welcome. In addition to the auction, there will be live music, food, and free childcare. Last year the group raised $14,000 and could re-roof a house and make a substantial difference in repairs to the Rural Mission facilities which was severely damages in the hurricane of 2016. Special Showing of “Wonder” – The Cole Interact Club is hosting a special showing of the movie “Wonder,” at 10 a.m. at Showcase Cinemas at Division and Route 2. The movie is based on the New York Times bestseller book and tells the inspiring and heartwarming story of August Pullman, a boy with facial differences who enters fifth grade, attending a mainstream elementary school for the first time.
