Sprigs Finds New Home in CVS Plaza

by | Jun 13, 2019

The good news is Sprigs hasn’t closed. It’s only moved. A Main Street go-to for flowers, plants and gifts for the past 13 years, Sprigs can now be found at 533 Main Street (locally known as the CVS plaza), next to Jersey Mike’s sub shop.

The main reason for the move, according to owner Janice O’Connell, was parking.

“Parking is becoming harder and harder on Main Street,” she said this week, especially for shops like hers, which rely on spur-of-the-moment customers. If you have a hair appointment or a restaurant reservation, you will look until you find a parking place, she said. For gift shops, foot traffic and people who just decide to stop are key.

Many regular customers have already found them in their new location and say they are happy with the ease of parking.

O’Connell said new customers are coming in just because they were already doing something in the plaza. She said people are telling her it’s nice to have another store to browse in.

But parking was only part of the reason, O’Connell said.

“We needed a change, a fresh space,” she said.

The store, which has a sister shop in downtown Wickford, sells floral arrangements and beautiful plants but is also known for its local, handmade and fair trade gift offerings, including items like Rhode Island-themed totes and Rhode Island and Massachusetts-made jewelry.

Sprigs is open Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Visit their website here.
