Thursday, Jan. 24
9 a.m. – A Waltham, Mass., woman, 28, was arraigned in District Court for forgery and counterfeiting. Bail was set at $10,000 with surety.
11 a.m. – A Duke Street resident told police some of her belongings were stolen out of her Jeep in November, after she was taken by rescue to the hospital and left the Jeep in the driveway of a friend. The next day, after she was discharged, she noticed three items were missing from the car: a Tom Brady limited edition jersey, a glass vase, and a walking stick. She left the state shortly after that. She decided to report the missing items while on a return visit to Rhode Island.
Friday, Jan. 25
3:30 p.m. – A Valley Road resident told police her landlord removed some of her belongings and put them in an unfinished shed in the yard while she was not allowed to stay at the residence due to a temporary restraining order. The shed, however, wasn’t weatherproof and upon arrival, she found the shed door open and the contents wet from recent rains. Among the items in the shed were a Bose stereo, two Electrolux vacuums, an Apple laptop, 8 to 10 bags of clothing, artwork and photos. She asked the police to document the items.
5:45 p.m. – A Marlborough Street resident told police several tools were missing as well as some towels and that she suspected it was her ex-boyfriend. They broke up a week before after 19 years together and while they had never lived together, she’d given him a key to her apartment.
Saturday, Jan. 26
11:30 p.m. – Police responded to Division Street for car-versus-deer accident. The deer was lying in the road, alive but with broken legs. Police shot the deer.
Sunday, Jan. 27
1:08 p.m. – Police cited a Providence man, 34, for driving with an expired inspection sticker after he was stopped for having a tinted windshield. Routine checks showed registration on the truck had been cancelled. The plates were seized and the truck was towed from the scene. The man was issued a summons for the registration violation and a warning on the tinted windshield.
4:40 p.m. – Police met with Newport woman regarding damage to her car from a pothole she hit on Jan. 24 on Division Street in the vicinity of Kenyon Avenue and Fairmount Drive. The woman said she struck the pothole while driving west on Division Street, causing a flat tire. Police checked the area and found two large potholes in the westbound lane.
