Monday, August 26

8:51 a.m. – A Main Street resident told police his car had been damaged while it was parked in front of Cafe Fresco on Main Street Sunday night. When he got to the car Monday morning, he saw the hood had been scratched in what appeared to be a deliberate manner. A review of video footage from the restaurant showed that it didn’t have a view of the incident.

2:45 p.m. – A North Kingstown man, 19, was cited for driving a car with the registration suspended after he was involved in an accident on the Route 4–Division Street off ramp. The man was issued a citation and the plates were seized.

Tuesday, August 27

11 a.m. – Police arrested an East Greenwich man, 44, on a bench warrant after he turned himself in. He was processed and was later turned over to Warwick Police.

2:40 p.m. – Police responded to King Street for the call of a family disturbance. One resident told police his relative was threatening to throw a rock at him. Police asked that one of the parties leave for the night so there wouldn’t be any other issues.

Wednesday, Aug. 28

12:21 a.m. – Police noticed a lot of chalk art on the sidewalks and parking lot at East Greenwich High School that appeared to have come from members of the Class of 2020. They noted that rain “should take care of it.”

7:37 a.m. – Police noticed a man sleeping near the Cliff Street basketball courts and sent him on his way.

10:50 a.m. – Parents of a 12-year-old who did not want to go to the first day of school asked one of the school resource officers to talk to him. No further assistance was required.

Thursday, Aug. 29

11:05 a.m. – Police removed privately-owned cones and a sign asking drivers to slow down on Adirondack Drive.

3:23 p.m. – A 16-year-old told police he was making a left turn onto King Street from Water Street on his bike when a car ignored the stop sign southbound on Water Street and turned right onto King Street. The teen said the driver was looking at his phone at the time so the teen yelled at him to stop looking at his phone. The driver then allegedly turned into the bicycle slightly, dislodging a bike mirror. The teen said he was not hurt and his bike, other than the mirror, appeared to be undamaged. He said the car had been an older model white Ford wagon. 

Friday, Aug. 30

9:15 a.m. – The manager of Blu on the Water told police the night manager had noticed the counterfeit $100 dollar bill when she was counting the draw from the outside register at the end of the night. Police took custody of the fake bill and placed it into evidence. 

7:26 p.m. – Children attending the Summer’s End concert told police an older youth making threatening statements to them. The youth was taken to EGPD to meet with the town’s crisis clinician.

8:07 p.m. – The manager of CVS asked police to disperse a large group of young people congregating in front of the store, blocking the entrance.

Sunday, Sept. 1

2:15 p.m. – Police notified DEM after getting a report of men at the boat ramp on Crompton Drive with an illegal-size crab. DEM said the men were catching small bluefish; it’s legal to catch up to 15 of those per day. There was no violation.

8:18 p.m. – A caller told police someone was setting of fireworks on King Street at Duke Street and that there were a couple of small fires in the backyard there. Police found fireworks debris but no one was setting them off by the time police arrived. Residents were putting out the fires in the yard.

11:23 p.m. – Someone told police about a woman passed out on Upland Avenue off Rocky Hollow Road, apparently after drinking too much. Her acquaintance said he would take responsibility for her.

Monday, Sept. 2

12:42 a.m. – EGFD asked for help with a woman at Blu on the Water who appeared to be intoxicated. Rescue took her and a second woman in a similar state to Kent Hospital.
