School Committee candidate Paul Martin, 71, of Brookside Drive was arrested Friday, June 27, for driving with a suspended license. Martin, who served on the School Committee for two separate terms, from 2000 to 2004 and 2008 to 2012, was charged after he was involved in a car accident on Division Street.
According to the police report, Martin hit a car backing out of a driveway. He showed police the car registration but did not have proof of insurance and routine checks turned up the license violation.
Martin filed to run for School Committee but, as with all candidates, he must turn in signatures from 50 East Greenwich voters by Friday, July 11, at 4 p.m. to earn a place on the ballot.
Martin was arrested on the same charge in August 2012; in that case, he pleaded no contest and paid a fine.
Here’s a story about the 10 people who filed to run for School Committee in 2014.
