Maurice E. Benson, 83, passed away July 17, at Sunny View Nursing Home. He is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Barbara B. (Gorton) Benson. He was born in Providence and grew up in Cranston, a son of the late Maurice T. and Edith (Carlson) Benson.

 

Mr. Benson was a retired decorator, whose career included decorating many department store windows such as the former Gladding’s and Outlet Company. He had also worked as a floral designer and had been a member of the Air National Guard.

 

Besides his wife he is survived by his loving children, Christina L. Dufault and her husband Steven, and Roger E. Benson and his wife Monica; and his cherished grandchildren, Chelsea, Benjamin and Joshua Maurice Dufault.

 

His funeral service will be Wednesday, July 23, at 10 a.m. at the Hill Funeral Home, 822 Main St., East Greenwich. Burial will be in Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery, North Kingstown.
