Obituary: Katherine V. McCloskey, 88

Katherine V. McCloskey, 88, formerly of West Hartford, passed away peacefully August 29. She was the beloved wife of the late Dr. Edwin M. McCloskey and the daughter of the late Stanley and Catherine (Stryjack) Vanderlick.
She graduated from Bucknell University with a degree in Medical Technology and was a devoted wife and mother. She enjoyed gourmet cooking, traveling, and spending time with her family. She was involved with the community as a founding member of St. Timothy’s Parish, an officer in the St. Francis Hospital Auxiliary, and an award-winning member of the West Hartford Garden Club.
Katherine is survived by her four children: Dr. Michael McCloskey, James McCloskey and his wife Carol, Dr. Carol McCloskey and her husband Dr. Stephen Skoly, and Mary Digan and her husband Robert. She was the beloved grandmother of twelve: Dr. Kristin McCloskey, Ashley Braband, Matthew McCloskey, Christopher Edwin McCloskey, Julie McCloskey, Nicholas Skoly, Alexandra Skoly, Katherine Spencer, Laura Gossman, Robert Digan, Zachary Digan, and Samantha Digan.
Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 3, from the Hill Funeral Home, 822 Main Street, East Greenwich, at 9 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 65 Third St., East Greenwich, at 10 a.m. Burial will be on Thursday, Sept. 4, at Holy Trinity Cemetery, Nanticoke, Pa., at 12:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The National MS Society (nationalmssociety.org).
