Obituary: Dr. Roger H. Brown, 95

CONCORD, N.H. – Dr. Roger H. Brown, 95, died on Nov. 24, 2014, at Havenwood Heritage Heights, in Concord.

Dr. Brown was born on June 19, 1919, in Providence, the son of the late Wendell S. and Elizabeth (Daboll) Brown. He grew up in Rhode Island and graduated from Cranston High School, with the class of 1937. He later attended Brown University. In 1943 he graduated from Harvard Dental School, DMD.

Dr. Brown was a veteran and served as captain, in the U.S. Army Dental Corps from 1943 to 1946. In April 1945 he participated in the invasion of Okinawa.

From 1946 to 1987, he operated a dental practice with Dr. Frank F. Bliss, in Cranston, R.I.

He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, in Concord, N.H.

Dr. Brown was a life member of Roger Williams Family Association, American Dental Association, Rhode Island Dental Association, and Sons of The American Revolution. He was a former member of New England Dental Society, Academy of General Dentistry, Academy of Operative Dentistry, and the Academy of Gold Foil Operators. Dr. Brown was past president of Cranston District Dental Society and Rhode Island Society of Dentistry for Children.

His hobbies and interests included sailing, mountain climbing, traveling and keeping in touch with his family.

On May 28, 1944, he married his beloved wife of 70 years, Janet Ray of Brookline, Mass., and they had four children, David, Gordon, Beverly, and Stephen; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

A memorial service was held at Havenwood Heritage Heights, 33 Christian Ave., in Concord, on Nov. 29. Interment will take place at a later date in North Kingstown, R.I.
