Claire L. Parkin, 85, of East Greenwich and formerly of Jamestown and North Kingstown, passed away May 6. She was the wife of the late Edwin H. Parkin and Ernest N. Swanson. Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Stanley B. and Mildred (Johnson) Larkham.

Mrs. Parkin had been a homemaker and had also worked as a secretary in the x-ray department at Kent Hospital. She was an active member of the East Greenwich First Baptist Church, where she had severed on the Board of Deacons and was a former member of the East Greenwich Yacht Club and the Sunshine Society of East Greenwich. She enjoyed sailing and being on the water.

She is survived by her children Dana A. Swanson of Plantation, Fla., and Sarah Swanson Browne and her husband Paul of Exeter and six grandchildren: Matthew, and Allison Browne, Ryan, Jenna, Laura and Thomas Swanson. She was the sister of the late Phyllis Gavitt.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 17, at 11 a.m. at the East Greenwich First Baptist Church, corner of Peirce and Montrose streets. Donations in her memory may be made to the East Greenwich First Baptist Church Memorial Fund.
