Obituary: Charles H. Deming, Jr., 83

Charles H. Deming, Jr., 83, of Coventry, Lady Lake, Fla., and formerly of East Greenwich, passed away November 4, surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Beverly G. (Wilding) Deming. Born in Westerly, he was a son of the late Charles H. and Violet E. (Howard) Deming. He was the devoted father of Stephen Charles Deming and his late wife Mary, Cynthia G. Palardy and her husband Michael and Kenneth Charles Deming and his wife Kimberly.
Mr. Deming began his career in textiles, had worked as a fire fighter with the Quonset Port Authority and retired as a shipping clerk for Stanley Bostitch. He was a Korean War Army veteran and recipient of the Bronze Star with valor. He was a member of the East Greenwich Methodist Church, a life member of the East Greenwich Fire Department, a life member of the East Greenwich Veteran Fireman’s Association, a member of the W.B.K.W Vets of Chapter 2, West Warwick; the American Legion Post #347, Lady Lake, Fla.; the DAV and a former member of King Solomon’s Lodge, F. & A.M. Besides his wife and children he is survived by grandchildren Hannah L. Caisse, Michael J. Palardy, Jr., Melissa G. Palardy, Karla J. Bartley and Brooke K. Deming; great grandchildren Cameron Caisse, Tristan Palardy, Jillian Caisse and Logan Palardy; and siblings, Raymond A. “Skip” Deming, Jerome Deming, Dorothy Moone, Myrtle Charest, Virginia Fitzgerald and Nancy Dunn.
His funeral service will be held Friday, Nov. 21, at 10:30 a.m. at the East Greenwich Methodist Church, South County Trail, EG. Burial with military honors will be in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Calling hours: Thursday, Nov. 20, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Hill Funeral Home, 822 Main St., East Greenwich. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the East Greenwich Methodist Church.
