Anne Marie Pontarelli passed away on June 28, peacefully and prayerfully surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Arthur R. Pontarelli, with whom she celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary June 17.

Born in Providence, the daughter of Vincenzo and Anna (DeSimone) DeMarco, Anne lived most of her adult life in North Providence, but also resided in Naples, Fla., West Warwick and, most recently, East Greenwich. She attended Providence schools and upon graduation from Hope High School was employed for several years as a secretary at Brown University.

Anne was a cheerful, energetic and tireless parent and indeed, a model of selfless love. She devoted her life to her family. Her special interests included being a parent volunteer at North Providence High School athletic events, in which her five children participated. Her five grandchildren provided an extra special feature for her.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by five children: Paul E. Pontarelli and his wife Mary Ann of East Greenwich, Lisa A. Pontarelli of Warwick, James F. Pontarelli and his wife Patricia of Narragansett, David J. Pontarelli and his wife Sally of Culpeper, Va., and Mark C. Pontarelli and his wife Kirsten of Lake Oswego, Ore.; one sister, Domenica Pesaturo of Providence, and five grandchildren: Sarah, William, Isaac, Camille and Damon Pontarelli. She was the sister of the late Pasquelina Chevalier and Elena Aiello.

Her funeral will be held on Thursday, July 3, at 9 a.m. from Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home & Crematory, 659 East Greenwich Ave., West Warwick. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Gregory the Great Church, 360 Cowesett Road, Warwick, at 10 a.m. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. Burial will be at St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Tomorrow Fund, 593 Eddy Street, Providence, R.I. 02903. Remembrances may be offered at carpenterjenks.com
