Join the EG News Community of Supporters!

East Greenwich News is committed to telling the stories of our town and providing them for free – we have no paywall. That’s because we want everyone to be able to access our content. But that means we need support from you, our readers, to help us keep providing the news, information and feature stories you’ve come to rely on.

We’re Growing!

With the start of our end-of-year annual fundraising campaign, we are focused on growing our base of sustaining donors. Sustaining donors contribute an amount each month to sustain EG News operations throughout the year. The monthly amount – perhaps $5, $10, or $20 a month – may be modest but each sustainer is supporting East Greenwich News in a fantastic way. Those monthly donations allow our small staff to better plan for the year ahead. In 2022, we are celebrating 5 years as a nonprofit, we launched a podcast, and we again hosted Candidate Campaign Forums to help inform local voters. What we can do in 2023 depends on generous donors like you!

Your Sustaining Donation
Is Multiplied!

Thanks to NewsMatch, Sustaining Donations initiated any time between Nov. 1 and Dec. 31 will be matched at their 12-month value, up to $1,000 per individual donor! This means that a donor who begins a $10 monthly donation in November or December of this year will yield a match of $120 for East Greenwich News.

This is the absolute best way and time to support local, non-profit journalism in our community!

Individual donations under $1,000 are also being matched. A gift of any size is much appreciated, especially during this fundraising drive!

Now It’s Your Turn

Make a donation online, on Venmo (@EGNews) or by check. If you’d like to donate by check, send it to: EG News (18 Prospect St., E.G., RI 02818) – all donations will be matched. (FYI – our EIN number is 82-2813220.)

Special thanks to this year’s Seed Fund donors, who started us off with $2,500! And a huge thanks to our Community Leadership Donors who have generously offered a $9,000+ local match, as well as the Institute for Nonprofit News, which is offering an additional $15,000 match through a national fundraising collaboration. This is how we grow a sustainable local news website – thank you!

Goal: $25,000

The FINAL day in our two-month long, most critical fundraiser of the year is 12/31! We rely on these operating funds to provide you uninterrupted, FREE content throughout the year.

We’re grateful to be able to report that we’ve reached our fundraising goal for 2022. Thank you to all those that have participated in our year-end fudnraising drive and throughout the year. We’re here for you, and because of you!

“We are so glad to have East Greenwich News to help us stay on top of local news.  I like the balance between the business side of EG and the family events / “good news” stories.  East Greenwich is a fabulous place to live, and EG News plays a critical role in keeping residents informed.”

– E. K.

“East Greenwich News does an amazing job of reporting on local issues.  The “Good News” stories are interesting (and not readily available elsewhere), and I greatly appreciate the detailed, non-partisan, objective reporting on town management and politics.”

– D. B.
