Hundreds Turn Out for Parade, Music & Santa’s Tree Lighting

by | Dec 3, 2018

Maybe it was the parade. Maybe it was because it was a Saturday night instead of Friday. Maybe, just maybe, it was a little holiday magic that prompted hundreds of people to show up for the annual arrival of Santa and tree lighting at Town Hall. Whatever the reason, it was quite a festive scene Saturday evening as the Extraordinary Rendition Band led a march from Eldredge Field down Main Street to Town Hall, with Santa riding in on an old fire truck just like always.

The children’s and adult choirs of St. Luke’s, as well as dancers from Providence Ballet added to the fun. After the dancers danced (without music but … ) and the singers sang, Santa led the countdown from 10 and – ta da! – the tree in front of Town Hall lit up! The event was organized by the Amy Moore, East Greenwich Chamber of Commerce’s Main Street coordinator.

This is Santa’s 38th (38th!!!) year visiting East Greenwich for the tree lighting. Thanks, Santa!
