Holiday Parade, Santa & Tree Lighting Saturday

by | Nov 25, 2018

The East Greenwich Chamber of Commerce announced its first ever Holiday Parade scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 1. For many years, the Town of East Greenwich and the East Greenwich Chamber’s Main Street Merchants Committee have held a Christmas Tree Lighting at East Greenwich Town Hall. This year, the traditional tree lighting will follow a Holiday Parade down Main Street.

According to Stephen Lombardi, Executive Director of the East Greenwich Chamber, “We are looking forward to involving more people, fun, and holiday festivities all along Main Street.” The parade will be led by the Extraordinary Rendition Band and trailed by Santa Claus in an old-fashioned fire truck. Mascots joining the fun will be Rhody the Ram, the Providence Bruin, and Paws from the Pawtucket Red Sox.

The holiday parade will have a festive Dr. Seuss-like feel theme. Throw your crazy hats and sweaters on, dress in Holiday outfits, light yourselves up with glow sticks or strung lights, or even bring your dogs in costume! All organizations and independents are welcome to join the fun!!

All participants will congregate at Eldredge Field at 4:30 p.m. At 5 p.m., the parade will head down Friendship Street and turn left onto Main Street, to arrive at Town Hall by 5:30 p.m. There, the parade marchers will be joined by the St. Luke’s Choir for carols. Santa will at 6 p.m. and participate in the annual tree lighting followed by pictures with Santa inside the Town Hall.

The Holiday Parade is a fun way to kick-off the holidays and everybody is welcome to participate. For more information and to participate contact: Amy Moore, Main Street Coordinator (401) 490-1526, [email protected].
