A Conversation with Andrew Smith of the the RI Supreme Court Judicial Records Center.
Smith will discuss true stories of 19th century crimes and Puritan-style punishments in Kent County. An archivist at the Rhode Island Judiciary, Andy will talk about criminal justice pre-1900 with tales of quirky crimes and harsh punishments. Come ready with your questions as this interactive session is here to inspire hands on local history practitioners!
The program is sponsored by the East Greenwich Historical Preservation Society and ties into their photo exhibit at the library entitled “Kent County Justice,” on display at the library through Sept. 28. The program Thursday begins at 6:30. The library is located at 84 Peirce Street.
