The East Greenwich Parks & Recreation Dept., together with the East Greenwich Veteran Fireman’s Association and the Main Street Merchants’ Committee, is putting on the 21st annual East Greenwich Halloween parade and party Saturday, Oct. 25.

The parade of characters, spooks, ghosts, and goblins will show off their costumes as the group marches southerly on Main Street. The parade begins at Academy Field, with participants gathering at 9:45 a.m. and stepping off promptly at 10.

Immediately following the parade, the ever-popular Halloween egg hunt will commence at Academy Field. Bring a bag to gather all your eggs.

From 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. the Parks & Recreation Department will be sponsoring activities and refreshments at the Town Hall on Main Street. Grab a ride from the horse drawn hay wagon from the rear of the Municipal Parking lot, along Marlborough Street.

The Main Street Merchants’ Committee will kick off their activities with trick or treating in the shops between 10:30 and noon for children 12 and under who are dressed in a Halloween costume. Check the Town’s web page (www.eastgreenwichri.com) as the date draws near for participating shops or pick up a flyer at Town Hall, the Parks & Recreation Department, the Library and along

This is a free event, but donations of can goods for the local food cupboard will be accepted at Academy Field and at Town Hall to make this a “Helping Halloween” event. Parent participation is required at this event.

The community as a whole helps to sponsor this event through volunteer hours, food donations, in-kind services, and funding. Without the countless people and contributors this event would not take place. For more information contact the East Greenwich Parks & Recreation office at 886-8626, ext.1.
