Friday, Sept. 12

Goddard Park Farmers Market: Among the vendors at the Goddard Park market, several farmers, bakers (both for humans and dogs!), crafts, fish and poultry. Fridays through Oct. 31. 375 Ives Road. From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Brown Bag Lunch Concert @ Town Hall: InTandem (‘60s and light rock group) will perform in front of Town Hall from noon to 1:30 p.m. It’s free, there are tables set up on the Town Hall lawn, and it’s just plain awesome. (There’s one more BB concert scheduled, the Caraher Brothers – pop & rock – on Oct. 10.)

Saturday, Sept. 13

Odeum New Volunteers Breakfast: The Greenwich Odeum is holding a Volunteer Breakfast, an opportunity to find out more about EG’s own nonprofit theater space and perhaps get involved. At the theater, 59 Main St., from 9 to 10 a.m. RSVP at [email protected].

EGHA Great Graffiti Contest: The annual event to decorate the London Street underpass (i.e. The Luge) takes place Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. All ages are welcome and supplies are provided.

Singles Mingle @ Symposium: Dating websites are good, but Symposium Books is holding a weekly “Singles Mingle” from 5 to 7 p.m. Go on by and make

Comedian Joe DeVito @ Odeum: Comic Joe DeVito‘s TV appearances include “The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson” on CBS, Comedy Central’s “Live at Gotham” and the semi-finals on NBC’s “Last Comic Standing.” He’s the first of four comedians to perform this fall – one each month. In October, The Odeum presents Paul D’Angelo, called “the funniest entertainer you’ve never heard of … yet,” by the Los Angeles Times. In November, it’s Jim Colliton, who has appeared on Ed McMahon’s “Next Big Star,” Comcast’s “Comedy Spotlight,” Comedy Central’s “Laugh Riots” and XM Satellite Radio’s Comedy Channel. And rounding it out in December is Ken Rogerson from this season’s “Last Comic Standing,” “Late Night with Conan O’Brien” and “The Late Show with David Letterman.” Tickets for individual shows are $15 or buy all four for $40. Tickets for all the shows can be purchased online at www.TheOdeum.org or by calling the box office at (401) 885-4000. Sunday, Sept. 14

Down Syndrome Society Buddy Walk: The DSSRI Buddy Walk at Goddard Park is a celebration of people with Down syndrome that encourages physical activity and good health. All are invited. Music, lunch, face-painting, crafts and games. Registration starts at 10 a.m., the walk begins at 11.

EG Animal Protection League open house: Every Sunday, the EGAPL opens its doors so people can meet the dogs and cats in need of permanent homes. You can find videos of some of the animals available for adoption here. EG Animal Hospital, 4302 Post Road, Cowesett. 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

EG Basketball Association 2014-15 registration: Register by the end of September and fees will be the same as last year. On October 1st, a late fee of $25 will be added to each registration. Registration closes Friday, October 17th. To register, go to eghoops.com and click on the Registration tab.

Logee’s Greenhouses fieldtrip Tuesday, Sept. 16: Members and friends of the Cindy-Wood Garden Club will take a carpooling trip to Logee’s Greenhouses in Danielson, Conn., on Tuesday, September 16th. The 122-year-old garden center has five greenhouses filled with rare and unusual flowering plants, including a lemon tree that produces 5-pound lemons. The group will then drive to nearby Pomfret for a visit to Martha’s Herbary for tea. Lunch will be at the neighboring Village Cafe. Non-members are welcome to come along on this trip. There is a $5 fee for the tour, redeemable for a purchase at Logee’s. We will meet at 9:15 a.m. at the Showcase Cinema on Division Street.
