‘The Little Mermaid’: More than 100 Cole Middle School students are working on their version of “The Little Mermaid” – 54 students acting, singing and dancing and another 54 students on the crew, setting up, designing props and sets, doing makeup, and helping with stage management. This junior version runs just over an hour, a perfect length for young theatergoers. Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 4 p.m., in the auditorium at East Greenwich High School. $10 at the door.

Giving Thanks @ Finn’s Harborside w/Hopp & Friends: You are invited to Finn’s Harborside for food, music, art, dance, friends and fun and they celebrate giving thanks. There are two dinner shows – at noon and 3 p.m., with a traditional Thanksgiving meal and music by Hopp & Friends. A third show starts at 8 p.m. and will feature lots of music, etc., and special guests. The dinner shows are $25; additional donations are gratefully accepted and will benefit the hungry. Guns & Beer V at the Varnum Armory: The Varnum Continentals’ 5th Annual Autumn Beer Tasting features a wide range of artisan beers (from pilsners to porters) from American and international craft brewers as well as light appetizers, at the Armory, 6 Main St., from 7 to 9 p.m. Tours available of the amazing world-class collection of military memorabilia and armaments. Proceeds benefit the Varnums’ preservation, patriotism, education efforts. Advance tickets purchased online are $20 per person; or $25 at the door. Ulster Landing at Aldrich Mansion: A delightful evening of Celtic music lilting from Irish pipes, harp and fiddle, performed in a café setting serving complimentary dessert, coffee or tea. Zumba! for a good cause: Jump start your day with a Zumba class at EGHS (old gym) from 11 to noon. All proceeds will go to a school-sponsored trip to Europe in the spring.$10 at the door ($8 from team members).

EG Animal Protection League open house: Every Sunday, the EGAPL opens its doors so people can meet the dogs and cats in need of permanent homes. You can find videos of some of the animals available for adoption here. EG Animal Hospital, 4302 Post Road, Cowesett. 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
