Kiddy Fun w/Robert Clarke @ Odeum: Storytelling, jokes, juggling and magic at the Greenwich Odeum with Robert Clarke (formerly LuckyBob). Opening up for Robert Clarke is Paul Helou, an interactive singer and storyteller. 59 Main St., $10. 1 p.m.

Scarecrow contest: The EG Free Library is hosting a Scarecrow Building Contest to decorate the library lawn, from 10 a.m. to noon. Come by and support the creators!

EGAPL’s Fall Bake Sale: The East Greenwich Animal Protection League’s Fall Bake Sale runs from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Warwick Mall Community Booth in front of JC Penney. Treat yourself to something scrumptious or spoil your furry friend with homemade cat and dog toys! T-shirts, framed artwork and jewelry also available. All proceeds to benefit EGAPL animals!

Sunday, Oct. 19

“Coffee with the Candidates” – Meet the Candidates at Mainstreet Coffee: Meet candidates for East Greenwich Town Council – Mark Schwager and Bill Stone –  and candidate for East Greenwich School Committee – David Osborne, at this meet and greet at Mainstreet Coffee, 137 Main St., from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Coupons for a free Mainstreet Coffee will be available during this event.  

EG Animal Protection League open house: Every Sunday, the EGAPL opens its doors so people can meet the dogs and cats in need of permanent homes. You can find videos of some of the animals available for adoption here. EG Animal Hospital, 4302 Post Road, Cowesett. 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Brain Injury Association of Rhode Island’s Annual Walk/Run: It takes place at Goddard Memorial State Park and registration begins at 7:30 a.m. with the 5K stepping off at 8:30. For more details, check out BIA/RI’s website here.

Monday, Oct. 20

EG Library’s 100th Celebration Committee meeting: A devoted crew of people are working on events to commemorate the 100th birthday of the East Greenwich Free Library. They meet the third Monday of the month and would love to get more people involved. 1:30 p.m. at the library (of course!).

Senate Dist. 35 debate: State Senate candidates for District 35 – Republican Mark Gee and Democrat James Callaghan – will meet in debate at New England Tech at 6 p.m., presented by EG News and sponsored by the EG Chamber of Commerce and EG Rotary.

EG Historic Preservation Society meeting: Local historian Bruce MacGunnigle will discuss his new book, “Strolling in Historic East Greenwich” at the monthly meeting of the East Greenwich Historic Preservation Society. Bruce will talk about some of the town’s oldest buildings, including the Greenwich Hotel and the homes and businesses in the Hill and Harbor District. As originator of the popular Main Street Strolls, Bruce knows the history and architecture of every building in the historic district. He has led 85 of the award-winning walks. Signed copies of his book will be for sale at $20 each. The meeting begins with a potluck supper at 6:30 p.m.; the program begins at 7 at the Old Jail, 110 King St. Free and open to the public.
