EG Weekend: Canoe Races, Voter Registration Drive

Saturday, Aug. 2

One-Act Play Festival: A fun, family-friendly evening featuring eight original one acts written by national playwrights. All ages will enjoy this summer’s lineup: light-hearted comedies, relationship pieces, free hugs, an ensemble cast of bugs, and more. Theatre 82, 82 Rolfe Square, Cranston. Voter Registration drive: Cardi’s Furniture on Route 2 is holding a voter registration drive together with the Rhode Island Secretary of State’s office, from 10 a.m. to noon. If you’re not sure of your status, click here.

Sunday, Aug. 3

EG Animal Protection League open house: Every Sunday, the EGAPL opens its doors so people can meet the dogs and cats in need of permanent homes. You can find videos of some of the animals available for adoption here. At a NEW LOCATION: EG Animal Hospital, 4302 Post Road. 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

EG Canoe Races: This benefit for Special Olympics Rhode Island takes place at Finn’s Harborside. Registration starts at 11:30 a.m., the races begin at 12:30 p.m. There will be live music by The Senders, starting at 4 p.m.

Screwy Louie & Bam Bam at Chianti’s Parkside on the deck, 4 to 7 p.m. (half-price appetizers all day)
