Monday, March 16

AfterProm EG Chik-Fil-A fundraiser:  Chick-Fil-A on Bald Hill Road in Warwick will donate 10 percent to AfterProm EG between 5 to 8 p.m. If you need a flyer – [email protected].

Tuesday, March 17

St. Patrick’s Day! In addition to the many Irish or Irish-for-a-day bars in EG, you can also celebrate with some soda bread at Felicia’s or a special Irish-flavored Mass at Our Lady of Mercy at 12:05 p.m.

Land Trust meeting: The panel meets in the conference room across from Council Chambers at Town Hall. Here’s the agenda. 7 p.m.

School Committee meeting: On the agenda, the committee will continue talking about the FY 2016 budget and the district’s strategic plan. In the library at Cole Middle School. 7 p.m.

Wednesday, March 18

Lunch on the Hill: Every Wednesday in the dining room at St. Luke’s, 99 Peirce St., lunch is served for all in need, from 11:15 to 12:15. In addition to St. Luke’s, Our Lady of Mercy, Christ Church and Westminister Unitarian churches have all taken on a Wednesday to serve the meal and local restaurants Jiggers, Wild Harvest, Crosby’s Cafe, and T’s take turns providing the food. Planning Board meeting: On the agenda, the panel will be discussing medical marijuana-related zoning revisions. In Council Chambers at Town Hall. 7 p.m.

Raise the Woof! for EGAPL: Have some laughs and raise money for the EG Animal Protection League’s quest for a permanent home as local comedians come together for a special, one-night-only fundraiser. At the Comedy Connection, 39 Warren Ave, East Providence at 8 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for a special adoption hour, where you can meet Carol Burnett* and her puppies! (*Carol Burnett is a dog.) Tickets are $20 in advance and can be purchased online at RIComedyConnection.com or by calling 401-438-8383. St. Joseph’s Day! That means zeppoles and also a special Italianesque Mass at Our Lady of Mercy at 12:05 p.m.

‘Capturing the Moment …’ at EG Free Library: The Friends of the East Greenwich Free Library will host an exciting program at, with Eileen McCarney Muldoon and Cindy Horovìtz Wilson of Profundo Journeys Travel Photography Workshops. The educational evening of armchair travel will feature some of the exotic lands and cultures visited, but also discussion as to how you can make more successful images on your own trips, near and far. Profundo Journeys has traveled with photography groups to Italy, Greece, Ireland, Hungary, Austria, Vietnam, Cambodia and Cuba, as well as around New England. Their individualized instruction used on the trips will be shared during the program, and is sure to inspire participants to find lifelong enjoyment with their cameras. 6:30 p.m. Call 884-9510 for more information about the program.

Wine and Wonderful: The Rotary Club of East Greenwich’s annual “Wine and Wonderful Extravaganza” is coming up on March 20th at Swift Community Center. It’s a great night with food sampling from several great East Greenwich restaurants, gourmet beer and wine tasting, games, music and fun for all. This year they are unveiling a new format, with raffles, a “wine grab,” our popular heads-and-tails game and more. Tickets and/or tables can be reserved online. High School Musical Jr. @ Hanaford: Lots of kids are participating in Hanaford’s spring musical extravaganza, High School Musical Jr.! Friday 7 p.m. and Saturday 4 p.m. at East Greenwich High School. Tickets are $10 at the door.

Project UNIFY Plunge: The original plunge was to take place Feb. 28 at Goddard Park. The persistent snow and cold fouled those options. The plunge – featuring members of both the Cole Middle School and EGHS Unified sports teams – will finally take place today at Salty Brine State Beach at 1 p.m. Learn more here.

Donations sought for Carrie Mac Memorial Garden: The Carrie Mac Memorial Garden donations are still being accepted.  Organizers said they are getting close to their goal but are looking for a few more donations to put them over the top. EG Animal Protection League open house: Every Sunday, the EGAPL opens its doors so people can meet the dogs and cats in need of permanent homes. You can find videos of some of the animals available for adoption here. EG Animal Hospital, 4302 Post Road, Cowesett. 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
