EG Dentist Charged With Molesting Child

by | Nov 8, 2019

A statewide grand jury indicted Maria Asciolla of Jamestown on four counts of first-degree child molestation earlier this week. Asciolla, 57, operates a dental practice at 880 Main Street in East Greenwich.

She is alleged to have committed sexual acts with a boy under the age of 14. The incidents are alleged to have taken place in Jamestown between Nov. 24, 2016, and Sept. 29, 2018.

Jamestown police conducted the investigation.

Asciolla will be arraigned on Nov. 21 in Newport County Superior Court.

We are so shocked by this news. We have been patients of Dr. Asciolla for several years and had the utmost respect for her and her staff of dental professionals.

I, too, have been a patient of Dr. Asciolla for a number of years. It is really too hard to believe. Hope she isn’t being falsely accused.

I would like to believe that if she is indeed guilty of the charges brought against her

that, in her case, it is an addiction that she did not have the personal resolve

to overcome on her own….If she is found guilty I hope that she is sent to a

psychiatric facility in order to receive the proper treatment she requires….

She acted weird around our children, made them uncomfortable in her dental
office. She should held to the same legal standard as a male would be. The public trusted this individual. Who speaks for the child in this case, and his family whose lives have been ruined? When a man rapes a child, do others suggest he was framed (after a fifteen month investigation of her in multiple states?), or had an addiction that caused the criminal behavior or even more disturbing, suggest a romantic relationship? Of course not!! I only hope she takes responsibility for her actions and spares the victim any more pain.

We used to live next door to these people in Jamestown. House was camouflaged in every way. Bamboo in front…fence on 3 sides that was higher than regulation allowed, and a very large storage container that blocked their house from our view. All windows were covered with blankets. We heard that a dog and child lived there… but never ever saw either. Didn’t take a detective to know that something bad was going on there. We lived there 2013-2017. So troubling as bad sad.
