The Town Council will meet Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. in closed session to discuss the candidates for town manager and set a date to vote in public session on the position, Councilman Nino Granatiero said Friday.

The council has not made public who is in the running for the job. Town Manager Gayle Corrigan, who has a contract with the town through June 30, is presumed to be a candidate. One to two other people have been interviewed.

Corrigan was named to the position on an interim basis after the council dismissed Tom Coyle last June, but Superior Court Judge Susan McGuirl said the council violated the Open Meetings Law in her appointment because the vote had been done in closed session. So, in November, before a crowd of around 600 people, the council took a public vote to reappoint Corrigan, which passed 3-2.

At the time of Corrigan’s initial appointment, Council President Sue Cienki said they would be conducting a search quickly. The search eventually got underway in December.

The meeting will take place at Town Hall.
