Cool Bob’s – Son Of Raw Bob’s – To Replace Searles

Searles Old Tyme Ice Cream on Main Street is not reopening this spring. Instead, Cool Bob’s will be taking its place, offering icy desserts similar to Searles with one major exception: no cream.

Cool Bob’s is the brainchild of Patty Burton, who owns Raw Bob’s right next door. The organic juice bar opened 11 months ago and has developed a loyal local following that saw it through the depths of a snowy cold winter. So, when Burton heard through the grapevine – “East Greenwich is a small town” – that the Searles space might be opening up, she talked to property owner Chad Verdi. The result? Cool Bob’s should be open sometime this May.

Burton stressed while the product may be dairy-free, it will taste like ice cream.

“If you didn’t know it was non-dairy, you wouldn’t know,” she said. “It comes across as ice cream.”

Burton said the year-round plan is to offer frozen treats during warm weather months, then switch the space to an organic soup bar for the winter months.

“It’s set up perfectly for that,” she said.

Verdi, meanwhile, will continue to donate the rent money to charity, said Burton.

Very cool! I am so behind I didn’t even know about the first bar! (But at least I’ve made it to Dantes Kitchen. Twice!)
