Annual EG Hill & Harbor Turkey Trot Is Saturday, Nov. 24

by | Nov 8, 2018

The Main Street Association of East Greenwich presents the 2018 East Greenwich Hill and Harbour Turkey Trot, a sanctioned and certified 5K race held the Saturday after Thanksgiving, Nov. 24. The course highlights much of the beauty of downtown East Greenwich, including Main Street, the waterfront and the Hill district. In addition to the 5K race, the festivities include a 1 Mile Fun Run, crafts, and music. The 5K begins at 8:30 with the 1 Mile Fun Run starting at 9:30.

The Turkey Trot has become a Thanksgiving time tradition for solo runners and families alike. Whether you are a runner, a volunteer or a spectator, the Hill and Harbour Turkey Trot allows the entire community to get involved.

Since 2012, a portion of the proceeds from each race is shared with a selected beneficiary. The 2018 race will benefit The Varnum Continentals. The Varnum Continentals are committed to the preservation of the historic heritage of our community, our state, and our nation at both the Varnum House and the Varnum Armory.

In addition, the EG Lions Club will be collecting canned food donations for the East Greenwich Interfaith Food Cupboard on race day. We ask that all attendees and spectators bring a canned good to support this effort.

Registration is available now at Racewire.com. Registering in advance will not only save you money, but the first 500 5K registrants will receive race shirts. Last-minute runners can also register the day of the event. Packet pickup begins at 7:30 a.m. on race day at the Varnum Armory, 6 Main St., East Greenwich.

The top male and female finisher will receive a $100 prize. Prizes and gift cards from a variety of East Greenwich shops will be awarded to the top two male and female finishers in each age category.
