Thursday, July 3

Bill Harley at Academy Field: The great and funny and Grammy Award-winning Bill Harley is performing tonight at Academy Field, compliments of EG Parks & Rec. If the weather is bad, the concert will be held in Swift Community Center. Either way, Bill Harley is a terrific performer for children and adults. From 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Symposium Singles Night: The folks at Symposium Books have taken a survey and it seems that a lot of you are into the idea of having a Singles Night at Symposium Bookstore. So, starting this Thursday evening come to EG’s Symposium Books from 5 to 8 p.m. to meet like-minded people. There will be some wine and nibbles and feel free to BYOB/W too.

Signing candidates’ papers: Candidates running for office must turn in 50 (100 for statewide office) signatures from EG registered voters by 4 p.m. July 11. If you are approached by a candidate looking for you to sign their paper, here’s the skinny: Any East Greenwich resident registered to vote may sign any EG candidate’s paper. There is no limit to the number of candidates you can sign for, nor does it matter if you are a member of one party and the candidate belongs to another. The only thing that matters is that you are an EG registered voter. Oh, and your signature on their paper does not mean you support that candidate, only that you support the idea of candidates running for office. So, sign away!

Fireworks at Oakland Beach: Postponed to July 5.

p.s. Happy 21st birthday to Aidan, my beautiful son.

Friday, July 4

Happy July 4th! Sorry about Arthur.

Goddard Park Farmers Market: The farmers market at Goddard Park is open for the season (through Halloween). Here’s more information about the market and vendors. Fridays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Saturday, July 5

Fireworks at Wickford Town Beach: Details here.

Sunday, July 6

EG Animal Protection League open house: Every Sunday, the EGAPL opens its doors so people can meet the dogs and cats in need of permanent homes. You can find videos of some of the animals available for adoption here. At a NEW LOCATION: EG Animal Hospital, 4302 Post Road. 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
