Also on the agenda, a presentation on bringing 5G cell service to EG; using Central Coventry Fire District hiring list for EGFD.
By Elizabeth F. McNamara
The Town Council meets Monday at Town Hall and on the agenda is the potential firing of a lieutenant in the fire department. It’s listed as an item during the public session as “approval of the dismissal of a firefighter lieutenant by the town manager.” Further information was not available.
Also relating to the fire department, the council will consider a claim filed by a lawyer on behalf of Bill Perry, head of the firefighters union. And Town Manager Gayle Corrigan is looking for permission to use the Central Coventry Fire District’s firefighter hiring list for any EGFD vacancies “that might arise from time to time.”
The EGFD does not currently have a hiring list. Corrigan manages the Central Coventry Fire District.
The council will also hear a presentation, rescheduled from their meeting June 25, from TruAccess to discuss 5G cell coverage. Here’s more information about 5G.
Also, there will be a public hearing on the application for a new Class C liquor license by The Caddy Shack, opening at 333 Main Street.
The public portion of the meeting begins at 7 p.m. in Council Chambers. Find the full agenda here.

So she feels “permission” will nullify the fact that tax payers in the Central Coventry Fire District paid for the establishment of that list. CCFD is not the East Greenwich employment agency. This is once again a conflict of interest. Benny’s is closed but it is too bad because you too could have gotten your management skill certification like Gayle did if they were still open.
