Monday, May 7

Personnel Board meeting – The town’s Personnel Board meets before the Town Council meeting to advise on salary pay scales and certain job changes. Here’s the agenda.

Town Council meeting – On the agenda, Town Manager Gayle Corrigan will present her draft fiscal year 2019 budget; the council will vote on annual capital improvements plan and changes to the contract between municipal office workers and the town, including moving the tax assessor position out of the union. At Town Hall starting at 7 p.m. (executive session at 6:30).

Tuesday, May 8

Town Council special meeting – A closed (executive) session to discuss applicants for the town manager position. Gayle Corrigan, current town manager, has a contract through June. The Town Council has been conducting a search for someone to fill the position. Corrigan and Town Council members have declined to say whether or not she is a candidate. The council meets at Town Hall at 6 p.m.

Wednesday, May 9

Lunch on the Hill – If you are looking for some good food and company, stop by the dining room at St. Luke’s Church on Peirce Street where you will find both. A free lunch is offered every week, sponsored by various local churches and restaurants – a different church-restaurant combination each week. From 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

Historic District Commission meeting – The panel meets in Council Chambers at Town Hall at 7 p.m. Find the agenda here.

Hope In Trying Times: Spirituality, Mental Health & Addiction – The East Greenwich Opioid Task Force, Interfaith Counseling Center, The First Baptist Church of East Greenwich and the East Greenwich Mental Health Subcommittee have joined together to offer this rich panel discussion highlighting the contributions and support spirituality offers to our mental health and addiction recovery. How do we sustain hope in the trying times and navigate the uncertainty and powerlessness we experience? Panelists include Tom Coderre, Linda Forsberg, Bob Houghtaling, and Christiane Lambert. 7 p.m. in the First Baptist Church of EG’s Fellowship Hall on Peirce Street.

Friday, May 11

EG Fun Run – Come for the run, stay for the party! An event with 1 mile and 5K run options hosted by the Eldredge and Frenchtown PTGs. Registration is $20/ runner and includes a race T-shirt if you register by the end of the day TODAY! Day of registration is $25 and T-shirts are first come, first serve. Register here. From 5 to 8 p.m. Eldredge field will be host to food trucks, face painting, photos with our school mascots, a DJ and more. All are welcome – you don’t have to take part in the run to enjoy the festivities.

Saturday, May 12

Plant Sale – The annual plant sale by the Cindy Wood Garden Club includes perennials, herb and flower baskets, flats of annuals and herbs, free seeds and garden crafts. All are created by members of the club or culled from their gardens. The sale will be in front of the East Greenwich American Legion Hall on Post Road just north of the turnoff to Goddard Park. It runs from 9 a.m. to noon. Come early for best selections. Proceeds are used to benefit local community and environmental projects.

Sunday, May 13

The Gianna Cirella Memorial 5K Walk/Run – The first annual memorial event honoring Gianna Cirella, late daughter of EG Deputy Chief Skip Cirella, will be held at Goddard Park Sunday morning. For more info, check out the Facebook page here.

EG Police Union Is Fundraising – This is an “all points bulletin,” if you will, to let you know the EG Police Union is soliciting sponsorships to its 2018 Yearbook and Business Directory, so don’t be surprised if you get a phone call. This is in advance of their Comedy Night at Quidnessett Country Club June 28 – the directories will be available then.

EGHS Class of 1960 Reunion – The East Greenwich High School Class of 1960 will be holding their 58th Reunion on Sunday, July 22, from 1 to 5 p.m. at the East Greenwich Veterans’ Firemen’s Hall on Queen Street in East Greenwich. HHNA Community Yard Sale – This year, 22 houses on the Hill & Harbor neighborhood will be holding sales from 7 to noon. Each house will have a flyer with a map of the neighborhood highlighting the houses taking part, as well as where to park to keep traffic flowing.  Find out more here.
