Monday, April 30

CCK Community Supper – The monthly community dinner known as Christ Community Kitchen takes place in the dining room at St. Luke’s Church, 111 Peirce St., from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Various local churches take turns providing the food and volunteers. This month Rocky Hill School and St. Luke’s are collaborating on an Italian meal. The supper is free but donations are welcome. All are invited.

Tuesday, May 1

Town Budget due today – According to the Town Charter, the proposed budget for Fiscal Year 2019 (July 1, 2018, to June 30, 2019) should be released by today. Check for it on the town’s website here, or at Town Hall.

Together RI Community Dinner – The Rhode Island Foundation is holding a series of community dinners around the state. The idea is to share a meal with other members of your community and get creative about the challenges and possibilities facing Rhode Island. It’s free. At the Varnum Armory, 6 Main Street, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Registration is encouraged but not mandatory. Click here for more information and to register.

Town Manager Search Advisory Board meeting – The ad hoc panel meets in the conference room across from Council Chambers at Town Hall at 6:30 p.m.

School Committee meeting – On the agenda, the committee will be discussing the FY 2019 budget and getting an overview of the FY 2017 audit. They meet in the library at Cole Middle School, at 7 p.m.

Wednesday, May 2

Planning Board meeting – The panel continues its work on the 6-Year Capital Improvements Plan. Year 1 of the plan is to become the capital improvements budget line for the town for the 2019 fiscal year (which begins July 1). In Council Chambers at Town Hall, at 7 p.m.

Thursday, May 3

Special Ed Advisory Committee meeting – On the agenda, a review of the schools’ safety protocols as they concern students with disabilities. The meeting is held in the library at Cole Middle School at 6:30 p.m.

Into the Woods poster Into the Woods, Jr. – The award-winning Cole Drama Club will perform this musical based on fairy tales with a twist at East Greenwich High School at 7 p.m. (and again on Saturday at 4 p.m.). EG Athletic Hall of Fame Banquet – The banquet will be held at the Quonset “O” Club at 2 p.m. Read all about the honorees and get additional information here.

May Fair 2018 – ”County Fair” is the theme of this year’s May Fair. The Barbara Tufts Co-op Preschool’s annual event features pony rides, bunnies, games, food, silent auction and lots and lots of fun. As always, at Academy Field from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

EG Police Union Is Fundraising – This is an “all points bulletin,” if you will, to let you know the EG Police Union is soliciting sponsorships to its 2018 Yearbook and Business Directory, so don’t be surprised if you get a phone call. This is in advance of their Comedy Night at Quidnessett Country Club June 28 – the directories will be available then.

EGHS Class of 1960 Reunion – The East Greenwich High School Class of 1960 will be holding their 58th Reunion on Sunday, July 22, from 1 to 5 p.m. at the East Greenwich Veterans’ Firemen’s Hall on Queen Street in East Greenwich. Hope In Trying Times: Spirituality, Mental Health & Addiction – The East Greenwich Opioid Task Force, Interfaith Counseling Center, The First Baptist Church of East Greenwich and the East Greenwich Mental Health Subcommittee have joined together to offer this rich panel discussion highlighting the contributions and support spirituality offers to our mental health and addiction recovery. How do we sustain hope in the trying times and navigate the uncertainty and powerlessness we experience? Panelists include Tom Coderre, Linda Forsberg, Bob Houghtaling, and Christiane Lambert. 7 p.m. in the First Baptist Church of EG’s Fellowship Hall on Peirce Street.

Plant Sale – The Cindy Wood Garden Club plant sale takes place front of the American Legion building on Post Road, just north of the turnoff for Goddard Park. Bargains in perennials, flats of annuals, herb and flower baskets, garden tools and crafts, free seeds. Healthy plants culled from members’ gardens. Rain or shine from 9 am to noon.

Sunday, May 13

The Gianna Cirella Memorial 5K Walk/Run – The first annual memorial event honoring Gianna Cirella, late daughter of EG Deputy Chief Skip Cirella, will be held at Goddard Park Sunday morning. For more info, check out the Facebook page here.
