DIPG Awareness Day – The Rhode Island House passed a resolution making designating May 19 DIPG Awareness day. DIPG is a rare, terminal pediatric brain cancer. EGHS alum Neil Fachon died of DIPG in 2017. His parents, Wendy and Dean Fachon, are working to bring more awareness to this disease. Because it is rare – afflicting around 300 people and their families a year in the U.S. – there is little money for research. But, as the Fachons write, “Awareness is the first step to making real strides in combatting one of the most deadly and cruel cancers there is.” You can learn more here: DIPG Awareness.

Saturday, May 19

Hill & Harbour Neighborhood Association Yard Sale – This year, 22 houses on the Hill & Harbor neighborhood will be holding sales from 7 to noon. Each house will have a flyer with a map of the neighborhood highlighting the houses taking part, as well as where to park to keep traffic flowing. Recommended parking: Prospect & Friendship streets (the Eldredge school parking lot) and Spring and Peirce streets (the municipal parking lot).   Find out more here.
