(Another EG resident reported a similar incident in March.)  The Home Depot representative told the man he could not cancel the credit card until he filed a police report.

1:17 p.m. – A Tillinghast Road resident told police that she was the victim of identity theft. She said in February she received a notice telling her that a Best Buy credit card application she had not applied for had been declined. In March she had received a notice in the mail telling her that her Guitar Center credit application was declined – she said she’d never applied for an account. That time, she reported the incident to a credit agency. Recently, she received another notice advising her of suspicious charges on her CitiBank account.
