Monday, June 12

7:30 p.m. – A Sarah’s Trace resident told police he had been harassed by coaches using the new batting cage at Cole Middle School. He said he was taking pictures of people using the batting cage both last Tuesday and this day when coaches spoke rudely to him, accusing him of wanting to take pictures of little boys. (The resident has lodged some noise complaints about the batting cage.) The resident said he wanted to document the incidents and said he considered the behavior harassing as well as defaming of character.

Wednesday, June 13

6:30 p.m. – Police met with a resident from Summit Farm Road who told them he had fraudulent charges on his Visa Card. He told officers that while looking over his bank account he saw that his credit card was maxed out. The man reported that he found two purchases for plane tickets for $3,135.51 each, round-trip tickets from Miami to London for a two-week trip. He contacted his bank to report the fraudulent activity and his account was frozen. The man also contacted America Airlines regarding the purchase of the two plane tickets. 

Thursday, June 14

9:15 a.m. – A resident from Bayberry Lane told police between November 2017 and early June he was notified of several suspicious credit card applications. The companies were asking information about these accounts including Barclays Bank in Delaware, Capital One Bank, Citibank, and Synchrony Bank. The man said American Express and MasterCard reached out to him directly asking him if he applied for credit cards, which he hadn’t, and that Experian reached out to him about suspicious applications.

8:30 p.m. – Police arrested a Cranston man, 44, and a West Warwick man, 46, for disorderly conduct, after they got into a fight at the Oaks Tavern at Queen and Duke streets. The Cranston man told police he’d gone to the bar to see his cousin, who was there with the West Warwick man. The Cranston man said he was teasing his cousin and the West Warwick man got mad and punched him. The Cranston man also punched the West Warwick man, according to the report. The two men were taken to EGPD for processing. A bail commissioner arraigned them individually and they were each released with a Third District Court summons.

Friday, June 15

12:26 p.m. – A Wanton Shippee Road resident reported a burglary. The man said he and his family left their residence on June 8 and had taken both family cars. When they returned that evening they found a few pieces of paper had been knocked off of the nightstand in the master bedroom and a bottle of a prescription medication was missing. On Sunday, June 10, while he was in the backyard of his house he saw a lawn chair that had been moved from the patio area of his backyard to underneath his daughter’s bedroom window located on the west side of the house. On June 12 he said he noticed jewelry missing from the master bedroom, including his wife’s wedding band, a silver necklace, and many bracelets. He reported these items were last seen in small jewelry dishes that were also missing. On June 14, he said his daughter realized her jewelry box. The man also said on June 12 he contacted Discover to activate a new card and they told him someone had tried to charge $1000 worth of purchases from a local Walmart but the store declined the card.

Saturday, June 16

10 a.m. – A Sarah’s Trace resident told police someone drove onto his grass and hit his mailbox at around 1 p.m. The man said he woke up around 1 a.m. to a loud sound coming from outside. He saw a car parked in the middle of the street; it drove off after about a minute. When the man went outside this morning, he noticed damage to his lawn and mailbox.

1:30 p.m. – Police were called to Clearview Drive for a report of property damage. Police made contact with the homeowner and he told them that a UPS truck his his stone wall while he was turning around. The neighbor told him that the driver got out of the truck, walked over to the wall and moved some rocks that had fallen, then drove off. UPS was contacted and explained it was a new driver and said he was sorry for not reporting it.

5:28 p.m. – Police cited a Warwick woman for driving an unregistered car after she was stopped for talking on her cell phone while driving. Routine checks showed the car’s registration was suspended. The woman told police the car belonged to her cousin and she was unaware the car’s registration was suspended. The vehicle was towed and registration was seized.

Sunday, June 17

8:35 a.m. – While police were on routine patrol they noticed vandalism on Frenchtown Road on the Route 403 bridge. Someone used red spray paint to tag the bridge with a “I love pot,” only using a heart and a marijuana leaf. EGPD notified the Department of Transportation.
