Police Log: Flood Trouble, Garden Mischief

Monday, July 9

10:34 a.m. A Flood Ford worker told police several of the car dealer’s cars were damaged and items were taken overnight. The rims and tires were missing from one new truck, two cars had broken windows and the rims and tires were missing as well.

Tuesday, July 10

8 p.m. – Police arrested a Warwick woman, 41, on a bench warrant. The woman was taken into custody and transported to EGPD headquarters for processing. She was later transported to the Women’s Intake Center at the ACI.

9 p.m. – Police arrested an East Greenwich woman, 64, for disorderly conduct after a neighbor complained the woman came into her house and yelled at her, using offensive language. The woman also banged on the front door and would not leave despite repeated requests. Police located the woman and gave her a summons for district court.

Wednesday, July 11

5 p.m. – Police arrested an East Greenwich man, 37, at home on a warrant issued by North Kingstown Police for failing to stop after a car accident. Police took him into custody and transported him to EGPD Headquarters for processing. He was then turned over to North Kingstown Police.

Thursday, July 12

5:30 a.m. – Police met with a resident on Marlborough Street for the report of vandalism done to her flower beds. Police showed up and met with the reporting party, who told officers that when she woke up this morning, she looked in the backyard and saw a bunch of plants were ripped up in her backyard garden. It looked like harm caused by a human and not an animal. While some of the plants were ripped up, some appeared to be cut with a knife or pruner. The woman reported that a week ago, her fiance got into a verbal argument with two teens after they knocked over her recycling bin. 

Friday, July 13

11:30 a.m. – A Duke Street resident told police her car had been damaged while it was parked outside her home July 12. She found a nail in her front left tire and the crack in her windshield was bigger. She said she thought it was retaliation from the previous incident.

8:18 a.m. The Flood Ford manager told police about tires missing off two pickup trucks. This was the second time this week that cars at the Flood lot had been vandalized. The manager said that eight tires off two pickup trucks parked in the back of the parking lot were missing. Each tire and rim is valued at $1,000 for a total value of $8,000.

7 p.m. Police were called to Dave’s Marketplace at 1000 Division Street for the call that someone had passed a counterfeit $100 bill.

Saturday, July 14

2:25 p.m. – Police were called to Shoreside Apartments on 6th Avenue for a call of possible assault. Police talked with a resident who said he’d been grabbed by his shirt earlier in the day by a man with whom he’d had a falling out. The ex-friend made a threatening gesture, the resident said. The other man told police the first man had taken some of his CDs. Both men told police they would keep their distance.
