She reported to police that parishioners said it was in good condition at the start of the 5 p.m. service April. 21. When the pastor showed up to church at 8:20 a.m. April 22, the flag was upside down and the flag bracket was broken. She told police the bracket had been very secure.

1:03 p.m. – Police arrested an East Greenwich man, 57, for driving with a suspended license after police were called to 313 Hemlock Drive after the driver of a pickup truck that had struck a parked car attempted to leave the scene. When police arrived, they found the driver of pickup truck in a confused state. The man said he couldn’t remember what happened. Police called EGFD rescue. The owner of the car that had been hit told police he’d seen the the truck driver speed down Hemlock Drive and hit his car.
The owner of the second car told police that the pickup truck had pushed his car 40 to 50 feet before stopping. He also told officers that the man driving the pickup had tried unsuccessfully to back up and flee the scene. The pickup truck had major front-end and passenger side damage; the other car had major rear-end and driver’s side damage. Both cars had to be towed. The driver of the pickup truck was taken to Kent Hospital by EGFD. Meanwhile, routine checks on the pickup truck driver showed a suspended license and an unregistered car. Police gave the man a District Court summons for the suspended license, third offense.

6:03 p.m. – A man called police to report damage to his mother’s garage door on Barrows Drive. The man told police he’d left the house the night before at 10 p.m. and the garage door had been intact. When he came back to the house today at 6 p.m., he saw the garage door had been hit by a car and was knocked off its track and pushed 10 feet into the garage. The garage door was completely separated from the wall and was folded over the trash bins, which were in front of the door in the driveway. It appeared a car hit the garage door and got stuck against the wall of the garage while trying to leave the scene. The man said his mother was not home but he would ask if she had caused the damage.

2:59 p.m. – Police cited a North Kingstown man, 37, for driving with an expired license after he crashed his Cadillac sedan into a tree on South Road. Police gave him a District Court summons but told the man he could remedy the situation by renewing his license right away.

5:40 p.m. – A Queen Street resident told police about an unauthorized purchase of $134.94 that was made on her Bank of America debit card. The woman said she’d also received an email from Target regarding a home delivery with a tracking number for items she did not purchase. The Target order was for five Contigo silver water bottles and a Goggle Home Mini, purchased with her card, but the woman never received the package. She suspected someone picked it up while she was at work and that it might have been her ex-roommate, with whom she had had a falling out.
