Candidates Forum Monday — Hope to See You There!

by | Oct 11, 2018

Candidates for local office will meet in back-to-back forums in the auditorium at East Greenwich High School on Monday, Oct. 15, starting at 6. School Committee candidates will go first; Town Council candidates will follow at around 7:15. Doors will open at 5:30.

The forum is being presented by the East Greenwich Chamber of Commerce and EG News, and the Rotary Club of EG is helping sponsor the event.

The candidates will be asked questions submitted by residents. The questions have been edited and condensed as needed for clarity.

Members of the Rotary Club of East Greenwich drew names to determine the order for both forums. Order for the School Committee forum is: Alyson Powell, Gene Quinn, Anne Musella, and Lori McEwen. Susan Records said she was unable to attend do to a family matter.

The order for the Town Council portion is: Chad Callanan, Mark Schwager, Mike Donegan, Mike Zarrella, Renu Englehart, Bill Higgins, Sean O’Leary, Andy Deutsch, Sue Cienki, and Caryn Corenthal.

These forums are designed as a public service to benefit East Greenwich residents. The objectives are to allow candidates to express their views on issues facing our town and to allow the public to hear those views. We ask that the audience give the candidates the quiet and respect befitting these objectives.

Also, the Rotary Club of East Greenwich, one of Monday night’s sponsors, wants to remind residents they will be holding their traditional Election Day Breakfast, Tuesday, Nov. 6, from 6:30 to 9 a.m. in the dining room at St. Luke’s Church, 99 Peirce Street.

The breakfast honors EG’s first responders and will be complimentary for East Greenwich police, firefighters, and their spouses. Tickets for all others are $6. Look for the flyer about the breakfast at Monday’s forum.
