Monday, Nov. 6

Calling Hours for Gianna Cirella, the daughter of EGPD Deputy Chief Skip Cirella, are from 4 to 7 p.m. at Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Ave., Warwick. The obituary is here.

Town Council meeting: The council is front-ending its executive (closed) session this week. The agenda for that portion of the meeting includes three different litigations, two concerning EG firefighters, and a discussion of the “job performance … of a person in the employ of the Town,” which may pair with an agenda item during the regular session: appointment of an interim fire chief. Tuesday, Nov. 7

School Committee meeting: On the agenda is an update on rules for getting additional funding from the town, the school calendar for 2018-19 and an update on the budget. In the library at Cole Middle School at 7 p.m.

Wednesday, Nov. 8

Lunch on the Hill – If you are looking for some good food and company, stop by the dining room at St. Luke’s Church on Peirce Street where you will find both. Thanksgiving Meals deadline! The town’s Senior Services offers Thanksgiving meals with all the trimmings to needy residents. The deadline to sign up is Wednesday, Nov. 8. To learn more and to register, contact Carol Tudino at [email protected] or 401-886-8638.

Historic District Commission meeting – The panel meets at 6 p.m. in Council Chambers at Town Hall. Here’s the agenda.

Saturday, Nov. 11

EG’s Veterans Day Parade! The annual parade steps off at 10 a.m. from Academy Field, then continues to First Avenue for a wreath-laying at the corner of First and Cliff streets. The parade proceeds down Main Street to Town Hall for closing ceremonies. Lucy Amat, Chaplain of EG American Legion Post 15, is this year’s Grand Marshal. Commander John Holmes, also with EG American Legion Post 15, will serve as master of ceremonies. In addition to regular favorites like “Lone Piper” Aaron Lindo, police and fire color guards, the Kentish Guard and Varnum Continentals, His Majesty’s 10th Regiment of Foot in America, a historically recreated infantry based on British soldiers from the Revolutionary War, will make its first appearance.

Sunday, Nov. 12

Breakfast featuring M. Charles Bakst – Temple Torat Yisrael Men’s Club Breakfast this month is open to all and features guest speaker retired Providence Journal political columnist M. Charles Bakst. Bakst may not have the latest scoop from the State House but he will talk about everything from journalism and newspapers to Facebook and baseball. Charlie goes back to the days when journalists used manual typewriters, and he has covered all the most interesting people of our times. The breakfast is open to the community, men and women alike. A Noteworthy Evening – Come and listen to some talented musicians both young and old(er). Come and meet new friends. Saturday, Nov. 18

Historic Cemetery Cleanup – The Historic Cemetery Commission will be holding a cemetery cleanup at Cemetery #72, the Wickes Family Lot, located on the north side of Division Road in the vicinity of 875 Division Rd. This cemetery has high visibility, has already been cleaned on four occasions and has had several headstones reset but needs proper maintenance nonetheless. Attending this event is a great opportunity to learn about the Town’s history and possibly get those community service hours completed! From 9 a.m. to noon!
